Summary
Downsizing of gasoline engines is one of the key technologies for a substantial progress in CO2-emissions reduction. Additional benefit in de-carbonisation is gained by the use of fuels with bio-components. Thus, future gasoline engines will demand a combination of downsizing and flex-fuel capability. Both enhanced downsizing and new fuels lead to challenges due to irregular combustion phenomena. This contribution presents pre-ignition results obtained on a highly boosted engine for different fuels and injection systems by a combination of engine testing, optical diagnostics and CFDR.
Lectures from the International Vienna Motor Symposium can be ordered from the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers (ÖVK). Lectures can only be purchased in the form of the complete conference documents, individual lectures are not available.
When placing an order, please note the year/name of the event (e.g. "45th International Vienna Motor Symposium 2024") for the further ordering process.
Members of the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers have access to all lectures of the International Vienna Motor Symposia.
