Summary

Integrated Model-Based Development (MBD) has been proposed to mitigate the complexity issue which we have encountered in rapidly advancing engine control systems. MBD requires lots of technologies in modeling, control design, calibration, verification & validation, model execution, model/data management and process management environments however some required technologies haven’t been well established in general. Rapid modeling is an essential issue to realize MBD because it is hard to provide the required engine and component models to the development timely. In order to resolve this issue, a desired modeling environment consisting of physical and empirical modeling environments is introduced. The empirical modeling environment includes existing identification technologies but a method that derives empirical model equations from a corresponding complex physical model is introduced. In the physical modeling environment, a new multi physics modeling tool HLMT (High Level Modeling Tool) based on the relevant conservation laws and the constraints is introduced. It generates high index nonlinear differential algebraic equations and transfers them to numerically solvable equations by symbolic equation manipulation. The integration of physical and empirical models is extremely important for rapid modeling. For this purpose, model simplification is one of the key technologies. Integration methodologies are also introduced.

Lectures from the International Vienna Motor Symposium can be ordered from the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers (ÖVK). Lectures can only be purchased in the form of the complete conference documents, individual lectures are not available.
When placing an order, please note the year/name of the event (e.g. "45th International Vienna Motor Symposium 2024") for the further ordering process.
