Summary
With the further development of the twin-turbocharged 1.4 l 118 kW TSI engine groomed for running on ethanol with E85 fuel, Volkswagen is expanding its range of environmentally friendly engines and is making a further contribution to reducing CO2 emissions from combustion engines. The engine is intended to be used in the Passat and Passat CC, and initially for Sweden and Finland. It has been possible to ensure reliable operational and starting qualities with all ethanol concentrations up to E85 by using materials specifically designed for running on ethanol, as well as further refinements to the injection process.
