Summary
The BMW Group stands for sustainable powertrain solutions. These powertrain solutions represent one mainstay of BMWs strategy EfficientDynamics, aiming at CO2-free individual mobility. In this context the present article will explain the systematic and consistent realization of the TwinPower turbo technology in S.I. engines and of highly supercharged Diesel engines as two measures for reduction of the primary energy demand. As an example for a consumption-oriented design of Vision EfficientDynamics, the possibilities and the acceptance of downsizing of combustion engines fitted in hybrid vehicles will be discussed in this paper. A further mainstay of EfficientDynamics is the electromotive drive as realized in the BMW ActiveE, for example.
