Summary
This article describes the development of MAHLE piston technology with the goal of meeting the increasing requirements of advanced, highly efficient gasoline engines. The new EVOLITE® lightweight piston from MAHLE arose from the consistent ongoing development of its predecessor, the EVOTEC® 2, and is based on the EVOTEC® principle. This principle differs from the design principles of previous decades in that the piston geometry has inverted asymmetry on the thrust and antithrust side. A narrow thrust side is combined with a wide, elastic antithrust side for guiding the piston. The light, robust EVOTEC® 2 piston has variants with ring carriers or cooling galleries.
Lectures from the International Vienna Motor Symposium can be ordered from the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers (ÖVK). Lectures can only be purchased in the form of the complete conference documents, individual lectures are not available.
When placing an order, please note the year/name of the event (e.g. "45th International Vienna Motor Symposium 2024") for the further ordering process.
Members of the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers have access to all lectures of the International Vienna Motor Symposia.
