Summary

The modular Mercedes-Benz hybrid system combines the hybrid transmission of the second generation as a parallel hybrid with the gasoline and diesel engines from the Mercedes Benz engine portfolio. Previous experience from the series development of full-hybrid systems with the 7G-TRONIC Plus automatic transmission and the consumption savings associated with this has revealed that although batteries with higher energy content allow an enhanced electric driving experience, they do not create any additional benefit from a consumption viewpoint. The regenerative braking capacity determines the optimum design of performance and energy capacity of the traction battery. Recharging through a combustion engine cannot compensate for the extra weight of the vehicle in the case of an oversized battery.

Lectures from the International Vienna Motor Symposium can be ordered from the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers (ÖVK). Lectures can only be purchased in the form of the complete conference documents, individual lectures are not available.
When placing an order, please note the year/name of the event (e.g. "45th International Vienna Motor Symposium 2024") for the further ordering process.
