Summary
Natural gas operated vehicles become increasingly attractive for the commercial vehicles sector. This is due to the high availability of the primary energy carrier, its good suitability for SI combustion systems and the favorable H/C ratio. Aside from the operating costs which are primarily driven by the fuel price, regulatory requirements as well as the currently still insufficient infrastructure for natural gas are important factors governing the use and the conception of the engines. The development process poses complex challenges, particularly for the derivation of the natural gas variant from a basic diesel engine, which is common in the commercial vehicle sector. The fundamental aim is to achieve the largest possible number of carry-over parts from the basic diesel engine as well as optimized fuel consumption and costs.
Lectures from the International Vienna Motor Symposium can be ordered from the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers (ÖVK). Lectures can only be purchased in the form of the complete conference documents, individual lectures are not available.
When placing an order, please note the year/name of the event (e.g. "45th International Vienna Motor Symposium 2024") for the further ordering process.
Members of the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers have access to all lectures of the International Vienna Motor Symposia.
