Summary

Increasingly stringent ecological and economical requirements for motor vehicles are pointing more and more towards the use of electric propulsion technology in the drivetrain alongside further optimization of engines and transmissions. Many different levels of hybridisation can be achieved by designing modular hybridspecific components such as start/stop systems, integrated electric motors, power electronics, scalable battery systems, and auxiliary equipment, and by using these in clever combinations. Together with standardized installation space for the hybridspecific components for all engine applications in all vehicle categories, Mercedes-Benz has created a broad platform for hybridisation, adaptable to the specific character of the model lines.
