Summary

By force of more and more restrictive emission regulations of the world wide motorbike market, the producers of motorbikes need to implement new technologies. To fulfil the future needs, a closed loop λ=1 control, including electronic fuel injection would be a proper solution. Many of the producers, work shops, repair places and costumers in newly industrialized countries or in developing countries are not ready to invest in this technology or are not willing to handle it. This research project discusses the question, if a λ=1 engine is mandatory or if there are other solutions with simple carburettors using innovative concepts, leading to success. Different possible solutions are discussed and filed in a measure catalogue according to the respective displacement categories.
