Summary

In order to fulfill our constantly growing mobility needs, it is crucial to develop not only excellent technologies, but also innovative business models. It is also necessary to think this through from the point of view of the customer, since it is the customer who has the final decision regarding acceptance and, therefore, success or failure. Established companies are at risk of being displaced by disruptive business models. Competitors are already cutting across the boundaries between branches with the help of digitalization and the influence of technological developments. Mobility services can be offered in a tailored manner for specific target groups without restriction, at any time, both globally and locally. Companies in the automotive industry are thus in increasing competition, from the digital interface to the end- customer, but we have to see these developments as opportunities and invest resources accordingly in the development of business models and new co-operations. Ever-growing cities are facing the challenge of meeting spiraling mobility needs in an efficient and eco-friendly way. For this reason, such mobility services have to be implemented together with the cities themselves. The automobile industry has to prove its capability to navigate constant change. The three most important aspects of business models in the mobility of the future are therefore integration, cooperation and creating added value for the customer. Magna is already optimizing technologies and processes which fulfill zero-emission targets, whilst simultaneously establishing new partnerships, and developing business and service models of mobility in pilot projects and value-added services that go beyond mobility.
