Summary

The automotive industry is facing tremendous challenges with regards to CO2 emission reduction, new emission test cycles and the transition to electrification. To manage this transition, it is important to have a robust plan where market-dependent customer needs are balanced by product cost and factory investments.
Geely Powertrain Research Institute and CEVT Powertrain Engineering are working together to provide a modular flexible powertrain setup for application in various brands of the Geely Holding group. By using the modularity built into the 3-cylinder engine and electrified 7DCT transmission families, Geely has been successful in implementing several levels of electrification using the same base components. The resulting hybrid powertrain family ranges from 48V mild hybrid, full hybrid to plug-in hybrid.
