Summary

For 13 years now, the Volkswagen Group has been using first-class engines that have been proving their merits in the premium models produced by the Volkswagen, Audi and Bentley brands. In the new W12 TSI, the combustion processes that have previously been used in parallel – FSI direct injection at Audi and TMPI at Bentley – have both been improved with further technical innovations and combined to form the successfully established TSI process. With the newly applied technologies, the W12 TSI now has one of the highest technology densities of any engine worldwide. The package comprises, among other things: - Cylinder liners with APS coating, - Oil circuit with variable oil pump, also for off-road use, - Cooling system with integrated thermal management, - Dual injection system - Biturbo, twin-scroll turbocharging - Cylinder deactivation of one cylinder bank - Engine management with two control units - Adaptive engine mounts - Start/stop.
