Summary
After the successful market launch of electrical vehicles BMW i3 and BMW i8, BMW consistently follows the chosen path to modern and emission-free mobility with the introduction of plug-in hybrid vehicles into the core brand models. BMW impressively redefines driving pleasure with their electrical driving experience. The key components of the electrified drive technology eDrive are developed in-house by BMW allowing custom integration into the different vehicle concepts. The BMW plug-in hybrid vehicles with longitudinal architecture are fitted with the P2 topology, excellently suited for driving comfort, functionality, and everyday use, which combines the eDrive drive system with an efficient four-cylinder engine and the 8-gear automatic transmission in parallel arrangement. The design of the plug-in drive system enables electrical driving with BMW-typical dynamics across everyday urban distances. Networked look-ahead functions and individually selectable driving programs provide situational electrical driving characteristics.
