Summary
With the introduction of the M139, the most powerful mass-produced four-cylinder engine, Mercedes-AMG is once again redefining the benchmark in the compact segment. In July 2019 the M139 celebrated its world premiere in the A45 and CLA45 models delivering 310 kW of power in the so-called S-model and 285 kW in the basic version.
The new engine impresses with its immediate response and happy to rev nature. Power delivery similar to that of a naturally aspirated engine, dynamically increasing torque curve and high maximum speed (up to 7,200 rpm) underline the M139's sports engine character.
The new in-line four-cylinder engine is installed transversely allowing for a flat and aerodynamically advantageous front design as well as an optimised airflow. The ball bearing twinscroll turbocharger and the exhaust manifold are located at the rear as viewed in the direction of travel. Additional measures to ensure peak performance include combined direct and port injection, the variable valve control CAMTRONIC as well as the new three-circuit cooling system.
Lectures from the International Vienna Motor Symposium can be ordered from the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers (ÖVK). Lectures can only be purchased in the form of the complete conference documents, individual lectures are not available.
When placing an order, please note the year/name of the event (e.g. "45th International Vienna Motor Symposium 2024") for the further ordering process.
