Summary

The automatic transmission 9G-TRONIC has a modular design. It is the base for the drivetrain in Mercedes-Benz vehicles of the SECM - classes with rear- and all-wheel drive. The modular components and subassemblies are introduced such as torque converter, mechanic, electrohydraulic with control unit and all-wheel drive concepts for different torque variants. Thus a simple adaptation becomes possible to different vehicles with diesel and gasoline engines. With the modularity and the common parts concept there are advantages in assembly in production and for different drivetrains. The benefit of the transmission concept for customers regarding drive comfort, shift time and fuel consumption are presented for different vehicles with diesel and gasoline engines.
