Summary
Adoption of electric propulsion across all vehicle classes is accelerating rapidly. By 2030, Electric Vehicles (EVs) will be essential for meeting CAFE and GHG compliance standards. The Integrated Drive Module (iDM) is a critical component of EV propulsion, consisting of a tightly integrated Motor-Inverter-Gearbox and the associated software that propels the vehicle.
This presentation focuses on the Inverter and its pivotal role in enhancing vehicle cost and efficiency. Over the past decade, inverter technology has seen significant advancements, including 800V designs, silicon carbide transistors, variable switching strategies, advanced thermal management, and innovative control and safety architectures. Today’s inverters operate with exceptional efficiency, contributing to impressive vehicle-level efficiency.
