Summary

The latest plug-in hybrid drive from Volkswagen (PHEV2) offers customers an outstanding electric driving experience of the kind offered by pure battery-electric drives. This is made possible by sophisticated vehicle functions and state-of-the-art technology. The PHEV2 will be used in the new Tiguan eHybrid and the new Passat eHybrid from 2024.

Besides the latest generation of the 1.5 l TSI evo2 petrol engine and the well-known DQ400e hybrid gearbox with the integrated HEM80 evo electric drive motor, a new high-voltage battery, enhanced power electronics and a highly integrated charger are also used.

The new high-voltage battery has an energy content that has been increased by 85 percent to 19.7 kWh compared to the previous model, while the exterior dimensions remain unchanged – thanks to new cell chemistry and -technology as well as by optimising the inner packaging. The high-voltage battery makes a definitive contribution to the significantly increased electric range. Now around 100 kilometres in the Tiguan and Passat.
