Summary

With its TDI, TSI and DSG technologies, the Volkswagen Group has been putting innovations into series production over the past two decades that have had a major impact on progress in driveline technology. To increase further the efficiency of its vehicles against the backdrop of evermore ambitious CO2 and exhaust emission targets, Volkswagen is driving development forward in all relevant fields. This encompasses highly efficient TDI and TSI engines, as well as drives for alternative fuels, plug-in hybrids and electric-only vehicles. The new 3-cylinder engines from Volkswagen systematically continue the efficiency strategy with further downsizing and an increase in specific power. Within the competitive field, these power units achieve the best figures in fuel consumption, performance and weight.
