Summary

General Motors’ electric vehicles (EV and PHEV variants) have traveled over 6 billion customer kilometers to date. Opt-in OnStar data from more than 100k vehicles over a twoyear period has been analyzed to understand how our North American customers really use their vehicles. In this paper, we statistically explore the driving behavior of the long-range Chevrolet Bolt EV and two generations of the Chevrolet Volt extended range electric vehicles. In addition to driving, we compare and contrast the customer charging behaviors between the Bolt EV and Volt. Finally, we compare Gen1 and Gen2 Volt electric driving and battery utilization using standard metrics.
