Summary

The North American US 2010 legislation standards as well as the European Euro 6 legislation represent a significant tightening of emission standards for particulates and nitrogen oxides (NOx). Also for nonroad applications future emission legislation, Tier 4 interim (2011+), Tier 4 final (2014+) and in Europe Euro IIIB and Euro IV will bring more stringent and demanding exhaust emission legislation. To meet those emission targets it will be necessary to reduce engine out emission as much as possible through optimisation of the engine calibration. In addition to that further reduction of particulate matter and NOx using an active exhaust aftertreatment solution will be necessary. For reduction of NOx for heavy duty and nonroad applications urea SCR is clearly the preferred technology. In this paper we will discuss the development and design of catalyst components that are capable of achieving future emission targets.

Lectures from the International Vienna Motor Symposium can be ordered from the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers (ÖVK). Lectures can only be purchased in the form of the complete conference documents, individual lectures are not available.
When placing an order, please note the year/name of the event (e.g. "45th International Vienna Motor Symposium 2024") for the further ordering process.
