Summary
With a comprehensive initiative, Mercedes-Benz is renewing its powertrain portfolio to address the diverse requirements of global markets, upcoming emission regulations, and increasing
efficiency demands. The development focuses on both fully electric powertrains and advanced electrified combustion engines. Modular platform architectures and powertrain families are utilized to create strong synergies across different vehicle and performance segments. For electrified combustion engines, the emphasis is placed on further reducing fuel consumption and emissions while achieving top-level power density under lambda = 1 conditions. In the area of electric powertrains, continuous advancements are being made in energy efficiency, power density, and system integration. This integrated approach within all powertrain types forms a future-proof portfolio that ensures the ongoing technological evolution of Mercedes-Benz propulsion systems and provides a solid foundation for sustainable individual mobility.
