Summary

Following their introduction in 2014 the EU6 emission regulations are scheduled to receive a new, more dynamic test cycle (WLTC, Worldwide Harmonized Light-Duty Test Cycle) in 2017; furthermore, limits will also be imposed on emissions caused in real-driving situations (RDE, Real Driving Emissions). Even if the EU6 emission limits proper were to remain unchanged, these two changes will have an impact onto the set up of the exhaustgas treatment systems for modern diesel vehicles. Hence the system solutions that are developed today and are geared towards long-term sustainability have to take these future requirements into account. Based upon the legal requirements for the post-EU6 period as known today this article presents specific Bosch system solutions for the exhaust-gas treatment in different European vehicle segments.
