Summary

As its top-of-the-range diesel engine for the new A6 and A7, Audi has introduced the 3.0l V6 TDI with dual-stage turbocharging. The engine develops a power output of 230 kW and a maximum torque of 650 Nm. The core of the unit is the compact dual-stage turbocharging system housed in the inner V of the engine and above the gearbox. The high-pressure turbocharger features variable turbine geometry with an electronic adjuster. The low-pressure turbocharger is waste gatecontrolled and designed for high throughputs, with the result that the engine combines high torques at minimal engine speeds with a power plateau up to the highest revs.
