Summary

Commercial vehicles (CVs) play a critical role in carbon emissions in the transport sector. Beyond CO₂ reduction, electric powertrains present a strategic opportunity as they can enable more competitive Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) compared to diesel — largely due to lower energy and maintenance costs. This shift must, however, preserve key attributes essential to CV applications, such as an appropriate range for the mission profile, reliability, and efficiency. While CVs have unique operational demands, they also share common goals with passenger vehicles, including minimizing the use of sensitive materials like rare earths, reducing environmental impact, and enhancing overall sustainability. Garrett’s high-speed motor and inverter technology offers a compelling solution to address these challenges.
