Summary
Since their introduction in 2005, the TSI engines have been global technology pioneers in the field of direct-injection, turbocharged, spark-ignition engines. Volkswagen is now enhancing their strengths even further and ensuring their capability to meet future demands. TSI technology is taking a major development step forward with the EA211 TSI evo range. The new engine has been conceived for use across the Volkswagen Group, its displacement has been increased to 1.5 litres and it will be offered at market launch in two performance variants – 96 kW and 110 kW. The new engine will start replacing the successful EA211 R4 TSI with a 1.4-litre displacement as of the fourth quarter 2016. One particular feature of the new TSI evo is its exceptionally high efficiency across a wide range of the engine map. A major factor in this is the introduction of the so-called Miller combustion cycle with increased compression ratio and supercharged by a turbocharger with variable turbine geometry – a world first in volume-produced spark-ignition engines. Cylinder deactivation (ACT) unleashes further de-throttling potential under partial load.
Lectures from the International Vienna Motor Symposium can be ordered from the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers (ÖVK). Lectures can only be purchased in the form of the complete conference documents, individual lectures are not available.
When placing an order, please note the year/name of the event (e.g. "45th International Vienna Motor Symposium 2024") for the further ordering process.
