Summary

Electrification of the propulsion system is the key technology on our road to carbon neutrality in passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. In order for success with the customers, we make electro mobility accessible, easy and affordable. With those prerequisites, the electro mobility market will continue to increase rapidly. The degree of electrification ranges from mild hybrid systems up to high voltage plug-in hybrids, electrical all-wheel-drive systems and of course pure Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs). Usage and cost will be the major differentiators for electrification levels in the different market segments and regions. With the new generation of the Opel Mokka, we are offering pure electric drive as well as very refined and efficient internal combustion engines, both gasoline and diesel. By enabling different propulsion systems in the same vehicle, Opel is well prepared for the changing propulsion demand. Even though a steep increase in market share of battery electric vehicles was achieved in 2020, there will be an internal combustion engine in the majority of vehicles in the near future. Hence, further development of the combustion engine makes sense from an economical as well as from an ecological point of view. Yet the new Mokkae marks another electrification milestone in the Opel product lineup. The flexibility of different propulsion systems is enabled by basing the new Mokka on the global CMP multi-energy platform. It will make electric mobility more affordable for a wider customer range. With a range of 334 km in WLTP, optimized road load for motorway driving and fast charging up to 100kW peak, the new Mokka-e provides a perfect balance of battery size even for longer distance usage. We offer our customers freedom of movement through sustainable mobility solutions that leverage on our leadership in clean and advanced technologies and support us in fighting climate change.
