Summary

The reduction of CO2 emissions is currently the main driving force in the development of technologies for combustion engines. In this context, a key technology is the use of highly efficient diesel engines with state-of-the-art injection technology. The application of ultra-high injection pressures of over 2500 bar up to a foreseen 3000 bar is a decisive factor here. The realization of these pressures is only possible using highly precise high-tech injectors which require fuels free of particles and water over their lifetime in order to ensure their proper and reliable function. In particular, the quality and availability of such diesel fuel is an important barrier to the global roll-out of modern diesel motor technology as the quality of the diesel fuel available in growth markets such as Asia, Russia or South America is partly poor. High fuel contamination with dust particles and water is possible which can lead to damage through wear, cavitation or corrosion. This makes the conditioning of fuel through ultra-modern and highly efficient filtration and separation a key enabler for the application of the latest generation of diesel engines with low CO2 emissions.
