Summary

This article presents the expansion of Volkswagen's modular electric drivetrain platform (MEB). Its functional development enables new and innovative features for customers based on a new software generation. New drive configurations were considered in order to also extend the model portfolio for the A0 vehicle class. Therefore, the MEB was further enhanced and became the MEB+ modular assembly platform to also enable the use of a front-wheel drive and include further enhancements regarding efficiency, performance, and cost structures. The MEB+ with front-wheel drive forms the engineering basis for vehicle models such as the ID. Polo, ID. Cross, Cupra Raval, and Škoda Epiq. With those models, the Volkswagen Group is offering cost-efficient electric mobility for a wide range of customers as of mid-2026.
