Information for Lecturers

The 44th International Vienna Motor Symposium is planned as a 3-day face-to-face event from 26-28 April 2023. If the face-to-face event is cancelled due to Covid, a virtual event will be held to which all participants will be rebooked.

Design of Lectures

As of December 2022 you will find a brochure with information on the design of lectures, lecture texts and videos at the International Vienna Motor Symposium as well as a format template.

Peer Review Process

Contributions made by university lecturers may be subjected to a peer review process if this appears desirable. This peer review process is conducted by the WKM (Scientific Society for Automotive Technology and Engineering), a registered association.

Symposium Proceedings

Your lecture text will be published in the Proceedings of the International Vienna Motor Symposium. The lecture texts are written in English.

From the date of the symposium onwards, your lecture will also be available to participants online.

Participation Fee for Lecturers

Participation in the Motor Symposium for one lecturer is free of charge; the respective participation fee will be charged for the registration of a second lecturer.

Deadlines for Lecturers 2023

31 January 2023:
Submission of the lecture text as a pdf for publication in the symposium proceedings.
Submission of the CV(s) of lecturer(s) in German and English. Such CVs should consist of approximately 20 lines, a maximum of 1,500 characters as well as a portrait photograph in a printable resolution (min. 7 by 9 cm, 300 dpi).

13 February 2023:
Registration of the lecturer(s). Participation in the Motor Symposium for one lecturer is free of charge; the respective participation fee will be charged for the registration of a second lecturer.

12 April 2023:
To support the interpreters, we ask that you provide your speech version of your lecture. Our interpreters can prepare for your presentation in advance and optimally translate it simultaneously into German.

26 April 2023:
On the day before the start of the lecture programme, we offer you the opportunity to test your presentation and your computer with the technicians on site in the lecture hall.

Lecture Duration

Lecture duration: 20 minutes
The following discussion lasts 10 minutes.

Lecture Language

Lecture language: English

German-speaking speakers in the face-to-face sections are requested to present in German.

The lectures will be simultaneously translated German / English or English / German on site.

Lecture Presentation

The presentation of your lecture takes place via your own laptop or a laptop belonging to the organizer. We request you to indicate your technical requirements and any additional equipment you may need for presenting your contribution. You will receive further written information in good time.

For security reasons, it is strongly recommended that lecturers bring a copy of their presentation with them (on a USB-flash drive).

Lecture Proposal

Proposals for lectures must include the lecture title, the author’s name and professional title, the name and address of the company as well as an abstract of between 10 and 15 lines. Proposals may be submitted for next year’s symposium by September of the current year at the latest. Please submit only previously unpublished contributions, which should not be released for publication prior to the ensuing Motor Symposium.
