Vienna Motor Symposium 2021: Bright Future for Fuel Cells or Hydrogen Combustion Engines?
Due to its high energy density and the short refueling times of hydrogen, the fuel cell powertrain is not only of interest for passenger cars but also and especially for commercial vehicles. The new modular fuel cell unit’s potential from cellcentric GmbH & Co. KG (founded by Daimler Truck AG and Volvo Group) and how it behaves in a long-haul heavy-duty truck application will be presented in detail by Prof. Mohrdieck.
The hydrogen combustion engine currently seems to be experiencing a renaissance: Not only AVL List GmbH and KEYOU GmbH but also MAN Truck & Bus SE present in their respective contributions the latest developments in their combustion engines and introduce the use in commercial vehicles.
Marc Sens (IAV GmbH) will cover the entire spectrum of hydrogen powertrain systems by comparing the total cost of ownership of fuel cells and hydrogen combustion engines for passenger cars as well as light-duty vehicles and discussing them with the participants of the symposium.
